Nuthatch Studio is a North Carolina-based design and illustration studio founded by Chrissie Van Hoever. Our mission is to create earth-friendly and delightfully illustrated products that foster meaningful connections, encourage kindness, and spark creativity.

Chrissie is an award-winning designer and illustrator with a passion for creating whimsical, nature-inspired pattern designs. Before Nuthatch Studio, she spent over a decade working with large and small clients on everything from mom-and-pop hand-lettered logos and website designs to museum exhibits and enterprise company illustration guidelines and design systems. She is passionate about using design and illustration as tools for problem-solving with a human-centered approach. Chrissie graduated from the College of Design at North Carolina State University with a Masters of Art + Design and Bachelors of Graphic Design. She lives in North Carolina with her family, who enjoys exploring the mountains to the sea and everything in between.

Here at Nuthatch Studio, we have put an enormous amount of energy into figuring out ways to make products that support fair work practices, help reduce our impact on the environment and don’t add to landfills or junk in people’s lives. In this process, we have discovered innovative sustainable and ethical manufacturers to partner with and we are very excited to offer responsibly made and earth-friendly products in our shop and for our custom clients.

Nuthatch Studio offers a range of illustration and design services with a bent toward sustainable design. We specialize in surface pattern design, product illustration, and hand-lettering for a wide range of applications. In addition to creating custom designs, many of our existing original designs are also available for licensing.
